Hi there! Below you’ll find affiliate links to great products that we enjoy using in our own kitchen. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Did you know there are about 7500 different apple varieties grown throughout the world? With only about 100 commercially grown in the US.

I love apples that are super crisp, juicy, a little tart, and a little sweet. My favorite has to be the Honeycrisp, and not just because it was developed at my alma mater the University of Minnesota. I find that they’re most reliably good – I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad Honeycrisp apple.

Honeycrisp apples can also be more expensive, so we also like to mix in other varieties. These are some winter grown varieties, which means we’re nearing spring and the end of apple season.

If you’re like me and still want that winter apple goodness. I found a few solutions. Transform mealy apples into delicious applesauce, harvest the apple juice, or for something with more crunch make these Cinnamon Baked Apple Chips.

Crunchy as a chip, made with an apple. These apple chips are a great way to use those lingering less-than-perfect apples. Ten minutes prep time and let your oven do the rest. These Apple Chips are super easy and make a great snack.

How to make Cinnamon Baked Apple Chips

1 – Preheat oven to 200 degrees F. Line two large baking sheets with baking mats and set aside.

2 – Slice apples. Using a mandoline, thinly slice the apple. I like to slice from the top or bottom so you get the pretty star design in the apple chip.

If you don’t have a mandoline, set the apple on its side and, using a sharp knife, cut into thin slices.

The seeds should fall out as you cut, but simply push them out to remove them before baking. Place on baking sheets, sprinkle with cinnamon and transfer to the oven.

3 – Bake for 1-1.5 hours, then remove from the oven and flip apple slices. Return to oven and bake for another 1-1.5 hours.

Turn off the oven and leave the apple slices in the oven until it cools. The apple chips will continue to crisp up as they cool. Enjoy!

Cinnamon Baked Apple Chips: Tips, Tricks and Tools

Thinly sliced apple chips is key. The thinner the slice the better. If your apple slices are too thick, they won’t get crispy.

Tools: While it’s very helpful to use a mandoline for thin slices, you can also use a sharp knife. Don’t cut yourself – a sharp knife is a safe knife.

Don’t peel your apples. The peeling provides extra fiber and nutrients (and you won’t even notice them).
