Breanna lost 142 pounds | Black Weight Loss Success

Transformation of the Day: Breanna lost 142 pounds. She was diagnosed with pre-diabetes and hypothyroidism. After her son’s father passed away, she knew that she had to make her health and wellbeing a priority. She figured out what works for her in terms of changing her eating habits and working out.

My name is Breanna, and I’ve lost 142 pounds naturally. I started my journey in 2016, and I’ve managed to keep the weight off for two years now.

What was your motivation?
What inspired me, or I should say what motivated me to lose weight, was that in 2014 my son’s father passed away. I felt the pressure to make sure that I could stay on this earth for as long as possible for my son.

At my heaviest, I weighed 384 pounds. I was also pre-diabetic, and I’d been diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I learned very quickly that working out was only 20% of the battle. My real problem was the food I was consuming.

How did you change your eating habits?
I begin to change my diet by cutting out pop/soda, bread, pastries, food with added sugars, and sugary juices.

Tell us about your workout routine.
I tried working with a couple of trainers, but I always ended up discouraged. I always felt like they never understood where I was coming from as a 400-lb woman. I began studying the machines in the gym and different exercises I would see people do. I also started walking for 30 minutes three days a week. Then, three days turned into walking five days a week.

Once I got the hang of the different machines and learned about my body type, I decided to create a plan for myself that would incorporate cardio and strength training. I worked out using my new schedule for a month. Then, I kicked my efforts into overdrive and went to the gym five days a week. Before I knew it, the weight started to melt off.

What is your current weight? What is your height?
I now stand 5’6″ at 242 pounds. I’m no longer pre-diabetic, and I haven’t taken thyroid pills since 2014.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is not to feed my mind with thoughts about the things I cannot do. Now I use myself and my journey as a walking testimony. I try to spread awareness and help the next woman looking to lose weight with my business Breezy Bodies. I offer a support group, meal plans, weight training programs, waist trainers, apparel, one on one personal training, etc.

What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
My advice to anyone who wants to lose weight, short term or long term, is just START! Don’t wait to become the best version of yourself.
