Jacquay lost 80 pounds | Black Weight Loss Success

Transformation of the Day: Jacquay lost 80 pounds. She wanted to have a fuller, more active life that would allow her to ride roller coasters with her son and do physical activities with him. She fell in love with fitness during her journey, especially weight lifting.

What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My motivation to start losing weight was a desire to live a fuller life. I wanted to enjoy life and be present in all moments without worrying about weight or how I felt. I wanted to ride the roller coasters with my son and enjoy doing physical activities with him.

Once I started to see the physical changes, mental changes began, and I didn’t want to let myself down and go back to unhealthy choices. I learned to be patient with myself and allow my body to release the weight the way my body would. That meant some weeks I would lose one pound, and some weeks I would lose 3 pounds. The progress was great either way. This process has given me a new way of thinking about losing weight. In the past, I would be very hard on myself about the amount of weight I wanted to lose in the week.

I want this time to be my last time I try to lose a lot of weight, and so far I’ve been very successful!

How did you change your eating habits?
I started eating more veggies, fewer carbs, and I drank lots of water. I would change my diet every few weeks to keep the weight loss going.

What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
I started working out two days a week for the first month. After the first month, I worked out four days a week. Each week I did yoga, aqua aerobics and worked out with my trainer. My trainer helped me with building strength and endurance.

Once I gained enough endurance, I started running and weight lifting. I fell in love with weight lifting. I really enjoy exercising! I love the way it makes me feel!

What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
Starting weight: 333 pounds
Current weight: 253 pounds
Total loss: 80 pounds

What is your height?
5’7″

When did you start your journey?
I started in Dec 2019

How long did your transformation take?
One year

Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
I started the process to have surgery but decided not to once I saw that I could be this on my own without surgery.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I learned was to be patient with myself and celebrate the small victories. I also learned to be happy during the journey and always be open to my body’s different changes. It doesn’t matter how long it takes you to meet your goal. All that matters is you meeting your goal.

What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight? Do what works for you. Trial and error is the best way to figure out what works for your body and mental health. Your journey is yours, so own it!

Find the exercises you like the most and do those but don’t be too afraid to try something new! You’ll be surprised as to what you can do and what you will love to do!

Also, create small goals you can achieve before your final goal. If it takes you a little longer to get to your goal, that is ok because one day you will achieve it! Be proud of yourself and enjoy the ride.
